Pastport

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Pastport is designed with privacy in mind. The app does not require an account, does not sell your data, and does not share personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.

1. Who We Are

Pastport is an iOS application that lets you explore Italian landmarks on a map, read their stories, and collect digital postcards when you visit them in person. The app is developed and maintained independently.

For any privacy-related questions, contact us at: support@yourwebsite.com

2. Data We Collect

Pastport collects the minimum data necessary to provide its core features.

Data Type Why We Use It Where It Is Stored
Precise Location To show nearby monuments on the map and detect when you are within range of a landmark so you can unlock its postcard. Processed on-device only. Never transmitted to our servers.
Postcards Collected To maintain your personal collection across app sessions. Stored locally on your device using Apple SwiftData.
Badges Earned To track your progress milestones. Stored locally on your device.
Liked Curiosities To remember which landmark stories you have saved. Stored locally on your device.
Saved Memories (Photos) To let you attach a personal photo to a landmark visit. Stored locally on your device.

We do not collect: your name, email address, phone number, contacts, health data, financial data, search history, or browsing history.

3. Location Data

Pastport requests access to your location while the app is in use (When In Use authorisation). Location is used exclusively to:

Your location is processed entirely on-device and is never stored persistently or transmitted to external servers. You can revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Pastport.

4. Camera

Pastport requests camera access only when you choose to save a photo memory at a landmark. Photos are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded or shared. You can revoke camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → Pastport.

5. Notifications

Pastport may send local notifications to let you know when you are near an unvisited landmark. These notifications are generated entirely on your device — no data is sent to a push notification server for this purpose. You can disable notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications → Pastport.

6. Third-Party Services

Pastport may use Supabase as a backend service for certain optional features. Supabase is an open-source platform hosted on infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services. If Supabase is active, minimal anonymous usage data may be transmitted over a secure HTTPS connection. No personally identifiable information is sent.

Supabase's privacy policy: https://supabase.com/privacy

Pastport also uses Apple Maps (MapKit) for the in-app map. Apple's privacy policy governs any data processed by MapKit: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

Other than the services listed above, no analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or data brokers are integrated in this version of the app.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes. We do not share data with data brokers.

The only circumstances in which data could be disclosed are:

8. Data Retention & Deletion

All data generated by Pastport (postcards, badges, memories, likes) is stored locally on your device. It is retained until you delete the app or clear the app's data via iOS Settings.

To delete all Pastport data, simply delete the app from your device. No data remains on our servers because no personal data is ever transmitted.

9. Children's Privacy

Pastport is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because no account is required and no personal data is transmitted, the app is safe for use by children under parental supervision.

10. Security

All network communication (where applicable) uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Data stored on your device is protected by iOS's built-in security model, including hardware encryption where enabled on your device.

11. Your Rights

Because Pastport does not collect or store personal data on external servers, most data rights (access, rectification, erasure) are exercised directly on your device by managing or deleting the app.

If you have specific questions about your data rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable laws, please contact us at support@yourwebsite.com and we will respond within 30 days.
